It is confirmed we are playing the California Classic Polo Tournament this Sat the 12th starting at 10am at Fairwood park.
1110 Fairwood Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA
Here is how it is going to work… Anyone who wants to play (80+ lb. and 10+ yrs) and pays an entry fee of $15 (this is for shirts and field) put their name in the hat. We then draw between 3 and 5 names per team (depending on number of participants) and they then come up with a name and decorate their colored t-shirts (t-shirts provide) We will games based on the number of teams and the time we have to play. We plan on playing as many games as we can.
This is not an ISPA sanctioned event.

Well the boston event had nothing to do with the ISPA. They did not follow any of our rules and they used our name with out our permission.

The next California Classic has already been planned. It is listed on the ISPA calendar as an unsanctioned event. It is on March 27th. I am not sure if the organizers for the California Classic would object to you using the name. You could ask them. Why not have a Sacramento Classic? I will try and Calender all sanctioned and non-sanctioned events as a service to the community so we don't double book things.
Good idea! It was a real shame when the Boston folks had their event so close to the Woz Cup this year. But as I remember the Boston folks only planned a couple months in advance (unlike the Woz Cup which gets planned easily 6 months in advance).

Looking forward to the 2010 California Classic, and I hope my suggestion of combining it with a potluck will be taken. The Gold Rush have had great success with our potlucks. The polo community up in Sacramento loves to cook and bring lots for everyone.
We'd be happy to host the next California Classic on our astroturf field up here in Sac. The cost is about the same as Fairwood, and we can set up a charging station like in the 2009 Woz Cup.

This was a fun event. It's always great to get out there and play polo with friends.

A great time was had by all. We ended up with 5, 5 man teams and the first tournament was won by the Banana Slugs. Every team got to play at least 2 full matches. We are looking at having another one of these in the last week of march. I have added the tentative dates to the ISPA calendar. Feel free to check out our new calendar ad see all of the proposed dates for tournaments. I wil often post dates as soon as they are proposed. This is to help people for planning. Please make sure to read the listing to see if it is final or just a place holder.
